
Dr. Ryan Casey McGowan
Dr. Ryan Casey McGowan is a board qualified, fellowship-trained podiatric physician specializing in both surgical and conservative management of foot and ankle disorders. Dr. McGowan is passionate about providing excellent care for all patients and believes that empathy, compassion, respect and education are important aspects to every patient encounter. He takes a multidisciplinary approach to a wide variety of problems including forefoot/rearfoot deformity correction, foot and ankle arthritis, arthroscopy, minimally invasive surgery, tendon/ligament repair and lower extremity trauma.
Originally from Allentown, PA, Dr. McGowan received his undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from Pennsylvania State University. His education continued at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, PA, where he earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree. Following this, he completed rigorous surgical training through his residency at University Hospital in Newark, NJ, where he served as chief resident. After residency, he continued surgical training with the Southeast Permanente Foot and Ankle Reconstructive and Trauma Surgical Fellowship through Emory hospitals in Atlanta, GA. This is a premier fellowship program in the country, providing training in advanced surgical techniques in foot and ankle surgery including minimally invasive surgery and total ankle replacement.
Dr. McGowan remains involved with continuing research in the field and providing education to students and residents in training. He has a strong commitment to continuing education and has presented publications at national conferences. He thoroughly enjoys Philadelphia and Penn State sports, tennis, running, playing piano and spending time at the beach. He is excited about the opportunity to relieve foot and ankle pain and help patients return to an active lifestyle.
